Transformers is a battle game similar to the movie of the same name.
Although the overall layout of the game consists of robotic battles, there is some violence, so the game should be reserved for older children and teenagers as well as adults who want to see the classic Transformers in a setting other than a movie. Once you begin playing the game after choosing the Transformer you want to control, you can spend hours trying to defeat the opponent. There are options to play with other people online, but the game is best played by yourself so that you can capture the nostalgia that the design of the game offers.
A map is seen on the screen that shows you where the opponent is located. There is also a menu where you can find the weapons you own and any contacts you have online who might be able to help or who you can talk to while you're playing. The graphics are quite detailed and will take you to a scene from a Transformers movie. The sound quality is a bit better than the graphics, especially when you make a defeat. Sounds of the weapons are mesmerizing to listen to because you would think that you're on a battlefield instead of playing a game. The game takes place on Earth, but you'll also do battle in Cybertron. This is an area where you're going to need more weapons and where you're going to have to watch every turn as there is quite a bit of excitement. There is an option to have up to four people with you when you battle against opponents who can be online as well. When you surpass certain levels, you receive rewards that will help in the game as you try to secure Dark Spark.
Pros
- Intense action
- Rewards in the game
- Play with people online

- Sometimes too much at one time
Transformers The Game for Windows PC is a role playing game based on the movie.
Transformers, The Game was released at the same time as the Transformers movie. July 4, 2007 as people saw Transformers in movie theatres, the game was rolled out by Activision Publishing. It is rated T for Teen. The game is compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7. Activision has released two sequels in the Transformers franchise: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and Transformers Dark of the Moon. Transformer games are also available as independent, stand alone games (five plus the original three). Other titles in the Activision inventory are the Call of Duty series, James Bond, Spyro the Dragon, Skylanders, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and the Crash Bandicoot series.
Players get to choose which side they want to play on. Autobots defend the earth and fight the Decepticons, while Decepticons fight Autobots and try to destroy all humanity. Whichever side chosen, players' character is a robot, which transforms into a vehicle. Robot battles occur frequently. Autobots are led by Bumblebee, a yellow Camaro, and Decepticons are lead by Blackout which is an army helicopter. Characters available to battle or play include Decepticons Starscream, Shockwave, Barricade, Blackout, Bonecrusher, Dreadwing, Megatron, Scorponok, Brawl, and Frenzy. Autobots available for play are Bumblebee, Ironhide, Optimus Prime, Ratchet, and Jazz.
Vehicles (Transformers) in the game are a semi-truck Peterbilt 379, a Hummer H2 Search and Rescue vehicle, a GMC Topkick, and a Pontiac Solstice. Although each robot/transformer has its own unique traits and moves, all have five or more methods by which they can attack the enemy. Throwing, for objects, cars, and more; a light weapon; swordplay using any long steel object; melee attack, and a heavy weapon. Because Transformers change from robots to vehicles there are opportunities for racing with the cars.
Interestingly, each area of the city is created as an 'open world' environment, which means there are side games, many detailed things to interact with, and places to explore within each scene. Energon Cubes and Autobo/Decepticon signs are available for collection by players in order to unlock colour options for some characters (Jazz, Starscream, and Optimus Prime), trailers, and production photos from the movie.
Geographic areas featured in Transformers The Game include Detroit, the Jungles of South America, and inside and around Siberian military compounds. Transformers, The Game can be played by one player against the computer or multi player. There is also an online multiplayer option and a feature known as drop-in/drop-out playing with 1-3 players where the game can be started and stopped without losing out on the fun.
Activision holds studios in conjunction with worldwide partnerships. Some locales are High Moon Studios in San Diego, California; Fun Labs in Bucharest, Romania; FreeStyleGames in Leamington Spa; Beachhead Studios in Santa Monica, California; Beenox in Québec City, Québec; Raven Software in Madison, Wisconsin; Vicarious Visions in Menands, New York; and several throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Transformers can be played using the mouse and keyboard or a game controller. Some issues have been reported with default settings giving the player a reverse control with the buttons and joystick or thumb pad. For instance, setting the controller to 'inverted' also makes forward and backward motion controls reverse themselves.

Based on the film, Transformers the Game for Windows follows the same plot from the film in a surprisingly accurate way. Not that the film had much to follow. You have robots that run about beating up other robots and blowing up stuff, and you get a lot of the same in Transformers the Game. When the game first starts out, it makes a real positive first impression with a lot of action and robot battles. This game is kind of long awaited, and you do have an interesting concept. You can choose to play as either the Decepticons or the Autobots.
The great thing about playing Transformers the Game is thatyou are not tied to a single character. When you play, you can play as a variety of characters like Megatron. The Transformers are highly detailed, and you have a lot depth that went into the design of that aspect. However, the environments could benefit from a little more detail and variation to feel less like something that was just slapped together.
Transformers the Game suffers from boring combat after a while. The fighting is less fun than you might imagine, where you just mash the buttons over and over to do the same three combos. There is not much variation. Another one of the annoying aspects about Transformers the Game is that you have an action zone that forces you to go back into that zone or you fail. That can be extraordinarily annoying, and it is completely unnecessary. It makes the game feel more limited than it needs to be. As said before, while it does tie into the movie, it does not stay much fun for long. Activision published the game, and this is a third-person shooter/action adventure game. The graphics are substandard compared to what you can get elsewhere.
One of the interesting elements of Transformers the Game is that you have several collectibles that you can take advantage of. For example, you can take advantage of the secret mission, and it gives you an achievement when you collect all of them. You can destroy a lot of things, especially as the Decepticons. You will blow up entire buildings, which is probably one of the most satisfying aspects of this game.
The game does get rid of Shia Labeouf, which could be a positive or negative depending on who's playing. In general, the overall experience of Transformers the Game could be compared to Hulk Ultimate Destruction. The big difference here, however, is that you can turn into a vehicle to drive to the action. Overall, this is not a bad game, but it needs extra work if it were to become a great game.
